Our Junior Program Our classes
cater for children from the age 5 through to 12 (your
child must have passed his/her 6th birthday in order
to qualify, or their 5th birthday to join our Little Cranes class). Beginners have their own separate class
and that class is subdivided into smaller groups according
to experience where appropriate.
The Criteria for progression from White through to
Black Sash consists of examining two different categories;
- Life skills and Kung Fu Skills.
Life Skills: - This is the displaying
and understanding of positive qualities in
each of our members. E.g. Respect, Courtesy, Honesty, Determination,
Focus, Self-control etc.
Kung Fu Skills: - This is the demonstration of the techniques and
concepts of our Kung Fu styles.
The YMAA Ireland Kung Fu for Kids Program works to
develop kids coordination, balance, strength, flexibility,
and most importantly their self-esteem. We focus on
safety, encouraging kids to do their best, and to believe
in themselves.
Not only do we focus on teaching a comprehensive Martial
Art we also teach the Martial Morality associated with
learning the Chinese Arts.
MERITS: Another aspect of our Junior
program is the awarding of Merits in the form of badges
and certificates for excellence and dedication. Attendance
Certificates and badges are awarded o on completion
of a perfect term (i.e. not missing a single class in
the term). Other Merits will be awarded as the Instructors
feel they are deserved.
Each child must attend at least 70%
of classes each term to qualify fo any Merits and
Sashes
