Ninth Period Qualification Contents
All items listed with an * must be passed before the student may enter the next period.

1. *Cha Quan (Cha's Fist) (Long Fist Barehand).
Cha Quan originated with the Cha family, and was later also taught in Long Fist. Cha Quan is one of the four most famous styles of Long Fist. These are Cha, Hua, Hong, and Pao. Cha Quan is an advanced Long Fist sequence. If a student can master this sequence with a sense of enemy, he/she will be able to reach a very high level of long range fighting.

2. *Yao Gu (Shake the Drum) (White Crane Barehand).
Yao Gu (Shake the Drum) is a Taizuquan (Taizu's Fist) sequence which was created based on the Tiger Claw and White Crane style. It was designed to train a fat, happy Buddha. The entire sequence emphasizes short Jin training. It is considered a middle level White Crane sequence.

3. *Kun Wu Jian (Long Fist Sword).
Kun Wu is the name of a mountain in Shandong where this sequence probably originated. Kun Wu Jian is the second sword sequence trained in YMAA. It teaches the student how to use the sword in the middle level.

4. *Gun Dui Dan Dao (Long Fist and White Crane Staff Against Saber Matching).
In this period the student should also create a matching sequence for staff against saber. Every technique must make sense. Creating a sequence helps the student analyze both staff and saber techniques more deeply, and increases his/her depth of understanding of both weapons.
