2. *Barehand Against Dagger Sparring-III (Kong Shou Ru Bai Ren-III).
In this period, you must find a partner who has three or four stripes to attack you with a dagger. To pass this test, you must be able to escape, dodge and also counterattack seven out of ten times easily.

3. *Staff Reaction-II (Zi You Gun Fa Fan Ying Xun Lian-II).
In this period, you must find a partner who has completed the fifth level or higher as a partner. In the test, you and your partner attack each other while moving in either a straight line or circling. Both linear and circling techniques must be present. The sticking and coiling techniques must be applied in defense. You must be able to react naturally both defensively and offensively.

4. *Beng Bu (Forcing Stepping Sequence) (Long Fist Barehand).
Beng has the meaning of "Forcing" or "Thrusting" and Bu means "Stepping." Beng Bu is a Praying Mantis sequence trained in Long Fist. It is somewhat different from the Beng Bu which is still passed down in the Praying Mantis style.

5. *Sha Shou Jian (Killing Hand Jian) (White Crane Two Short Rods).
Sha Shou Jian means "Killing Hand Jian." Jian is a Chinese short weapon, a rod of either wood or metal. The Sha Shou Jian trained in this period is a mixture of three sequences: Qi Xing Jian (Seven Star Jian), Chuan Xin Jian (Through the Heart Jian) and Sha Shou Jian (Killing Hand Jian) from White Crane. This sequence offers the student an opportunity to learn double short weapons techniques, which will later be applicable to the double saber, double sword, and double hook sword.

6. *Gun Dui Shuang Jian (White Crane Staff Against Two Short Rods).
In order to qualify as an assistant instructor, a student must have a firm grasp of the fundamental principles of White Crane Style, and should be capable of constructing a fighting sequence according to his/her understanding of the staff and two short rod sequences. The candidate must find a partner who is good at staff techniques and work together as a team to create a fighting set based on the techniques he/she already knows. This will allow the instructor to judge whether the student really understands how to apply the techniques in a real situation.
