Sanshou/Sanda literally meaning 'Free fighting' or 'Free hand' is an all styles contact sport, designed by the Chinese authorities to promote Chinese fighting arts worldwide. It is hoped that this sport will receive Olympic recognition in time for the 2016 or 2020 Olympics.
Sanshou matches fight on a raised platform or on mat area. Professional matches sometimes take place within a boxing ring!
The rules of this sport allow Kicks, Punches, Throws, Sweeps, Reaps and body slams. This forces the match to run at a very fast pace making it a very exciting spectator sport and one of of China's national sports.
Basic Rules: A Sanshou Fight consists of two, two minutes rounds.
If the score is even the fighters will fight a third round.
A fighter can win by:
1) Knockout.
2) By TKO.
3) By Points.
4) By pushing the opponent off the Mat.
